Workshops → Bill Newstead
Professor William (Bill) Newstead’s teaching career spans 40 years, thirty of which were spent as a secondary school mathematics and science teacher and Head of a Science Department, and the last ten of which have been spent at Queen’s University in the Chemistry Department. His exemplary teaching has earned him several awards, including the First Year Applied Science Teaching and Learning Award, the Alumni Award for Excellence in Teaching and many more! At the core of his teaching philosophy is the belief that “a teacher is responsible for creating an environment that is conducive to student learning”. Many former students write of his ability to infuse each lecture with humour and understanding; and to “shrink an auditorium of 400 down to 40”.
